Shailesh Dash, CFA | Chairman

Shailesh is a veteran of alternative investments across the MENA region. He is the founder of Regulus Capital that currently manages funds of over US$500million. Shailesh is recognized amongst the most reputable investors in the region with more than 90 transactions executed. Most of these transactions were sourced through his team’s personal relationships. He is the largest regional investor in medium size family businesses with more than 30 transactions and was instrumental in managing 19 exits (14 Initial Public Offerings (IPO) and 5 trade sales.

Shailesh was previously the Head of Alternative investments at Global Investment House. He had set up the Private Equity business at his previous assignment which became the 16th largest PE business in Asia (ranked by PEI Asia) and 2nd in MENA, with AUM of US$ 3 billion.

Shailesh has served on the board of 12 companies and was ranked as one of the top 50 most influential people in the regional financial services industry. He was awarded “Outstanding Achievement by an Individual” in 2013 by MENA Fund Manager. He has also been recognized amongst the top 100 Influential People in Dubai 2016-2017 by Arabian Business and amongst top 100 Indian Leaders in the Arab World 2016, 2017 & 2018 by Forbes Magazine.

Nrupaditya Singhdeo | Board Member

Nrupaditya is currently Partner at Regulus Capital and brings over 23 years of experience in investments, financial due diligence, business valuation, company value enhancement and corporate governance across the MENA region. He has been associated with Gulf Pinnacle Logistics since its formation and is a key member of the senior management team. Formerly he was a Senior Director at Global Capital Management, the Private Equity arm of Global Investment House.

He successfully led the only GDR raised by a Kuwaiti company, raising a total of $1.1bn in GDR and listing it in the London Stock Exchange. Nrupaditya has also managed a debt restructuring fund of $1.4bn and was member of investment committees of various private equity funds investing in 14 countries spread across GCC, North Africa and Asia. Nrupaditya has also previously held roles at KPMG and Ernst & Young.

Amitava Ghosal | Board Member

Amitava Ghosal as Partner of Regulus Capital is responsible for managing its investments business. Prior to that, Amitava was Partner at Global Capital Management (GCM), the Private Equity Arm of Global Investment House, and was instrumental in expanding its Private Equity Initiatives.

Amitava has more than 21 years of experience in financial services and fund management. His experience is in deal sourcing, execution, company value enhancement and governance improvement. His transactional experience includes education, healthcare, retail, and financial services. He has also worked with ICRA Ltd. (an associate of Moody's) and Phillips (India) Ltd in corporate finance and credit rating. Amitava holds a degree in B. Engineering and post-graduate in Management.

Eyad Abu Hweij | Board Member

Iyad has over 18 years of financial services and consulting experience in the GCC region. He is currently Managing Director of Allied Investment Partners, a leading financial services firm offering various services such as Asset Management, Wealth Management, Securities and Custody Services, Corporate Finance, and Investment Banking Advisory. He held several board memberships in diversified sectors across MENA region and Pakistan and is an active board member in several regional companies. Previously, Mr. Abu Huwaij worked with Global Capital Management (Kuwait), KPMG and Grant Thornton LLP. He holds an MBA from Cass Business School of City University London.

Don Lim | Board Member

Don Lim

Don is currently an Executive Director at Regulus Capital. He has more than 16 years of experience spanning strategic investments, venture capital and private equity. He has been instrumental in expanding Regulus Capital’s education platform in the MENASEA region. He has executed investments in over 20 education companies spanning the GCC and South East Asia region.

Previously, he has worked with Global Capital Management (Kuwait) and Singapore Ministry of Defense. He has a M.Sc. from University of Michigan, Ann Arbor; B.Eng. from Imperial College, London; and an ACCA qualification.

Wael Zeenni | Board Member

Wael Zeenni has over 18 years’ experience gained through his involvement in his family’s diverse holdings across Oil & Gas, Financial Services, Private Equity, Venture Capital, Healthcare, Education, F&B, Logistics, Real Estate and Water & Power. He is an active investor and advises SME’s and tech startups on financial advisory, capital raising and strategic partnerships.

Fadi Alfaquh | Board Member

Fadi is the CEO of Elavin, a boutique consulting firm specializing in the integration of digital technology into various segments of a business. Most recently Fadi was the CEO at Bank of Khartoum Group (BOK) where he had demonstrated success in creating value through accelerating business development and expanding the bank across the GCC. Fadi has over 20 years of banking experience in leading international and regional banks; across different countries, regions, and cultures. He has shown general expertise in engineering growth, digital transformation, turning around companies, conventional and Islamic banking, as well as specific expertise in finance, Islamic Microfinance, FinTech, project management, reengineering, operations, and retail banking. Fadi was awarded Islamic Banker of the year in 2014 and 2016.
